About the Conference

Official presentation of AMS 2027, organising and scientific committees (national and international) and partner organisations

A leading academic forum for algorithmic research

The AMS International Conference emerges as an initiative of the AlgorLit research project (I+D+i PID2022-140183OB-I00), with the aim of creating an international meeting space for researchers, educators and professionals working at the intersection of communication, algorithms and media literacy.

Algorithmic systems have become central infrastructures of the contemporary digital ecosystem. Algorithms determine what information we see, how it is organised, which content is amplified and which remains invisible. Their influence affects the formation of public opinion, democratic participation, access to knowledge, individual wellbeing and the exercise of fundamental rights.

In this context, algorithmic literacy emerges as a key competence for understanding, questioning and exercising critical citizenship in digital environments. However, different social groups — such as young people and older adults — show unequal levels of knowledge and capacity to interact consciously with these systems.

At the same time, the growing prominence of algorithms raises significant legal, regulatory and ethical challenges related to transparency, accountability, data protection and digital rights. This international conference aims to bring together researchers, professionals, public officials and civil society organisations to analyse the social impact of algorithms from an interdisciplinary perspective.

«The AMS conference is conceived as a future international reference point for research in media and algorithmic literacy».
